Mrs Jackson was widowed and later married Mr P A Bird. Together, they raised a family and lived in Cremona until 1960. Mrs Jackson, along with her good friend Mrs Caroline Reid, named their new village, Cremona, after Cremona, Italy, home of the Stradivarius Violins. When the railway came through in the 1930s, Cremona moved to its present site and was incorporated as a village in January 1955. There are two history books available for sale in the library with amazing photos and stories from past and present residents: "Under The Chinook Arch", and "The Chinook Wind Still Blows". Cremona also has a fascinating museum with a wealth of history and many photos and artifacts from the past. This allows learners to participate in post-secondary education courses from their own homes or community. The CCES provides a venue for these interactive, educational opportunities and offers on-site support to participants. The facility is located in the Cremona School with a dedicated entrance to the learning site on the S.E. corner. High speed internet is offered for those who cannot access the internet because of geographical challenges. Rooms are also available to rent for meetings or classes.
